I had always been very aware of my teeth and hated my smile; I had several crowns of all different colours and sizes, my bite was out of line, and I used to wake up every morning with a tension headache where my teeth grated. Dr Chawla replaced all my top crowns, filled my bottom teeth and smoothed them down and therefore changed my bite. " I would like to record a few words regarding my dental care under Mohan Chawla over the last 5 years. I have had a few dental issues to deal with over this period, but the treatments from Dr Chawla ... have been excellent without exception. I first received treatment from Mohan Chawla for remedial work, including fitting a Crown following a Root Canal Filling in early 2020. This has proved to be very comfortable, solid, and good in appearance. Then, in 2021, Dr Chawla took me through the steps involved with fitting an Implant to replace a troublesome Bonded Bridge. At each point, the options were explained very clearly, culminating in the surgery to fit the Implant in September of 2021. There were some follow-up reviews to check everything was ok. I have been delighted with the result, again in terms of strength, comfort, and appearance. In addition to regular check-ups, this year I have had a further Composite Filling, and finally, just this month, Dr Chawla performed a difficult and lengthy Double Filling on my two top front middle teeth. This replaced a previous failed filling, and in addition, remedial work was necessary on the lower teeth to ensure a good “bite”. I am pleased to say that the results have been perfect, and I cannot quite believe the look that he has achieved! It has been a pleasure to be treated by Dr Chawla. He always takes the trouble to explain the details of any situation, and also manages to find the time to have a brief exchange on a more personal level. Dental visits are not quite as fearsome to me as they used to be! "

" I knew that my teeth were bad; I had been glueing one top tooth in with superglue, and I was ashamed of my bad breath, so I made up my mind that I wanted the tooth replaced with an ... implant. I called all of the dentists in my local area, they either quoted prices that were impossible for me to pay, or they did not do implants, but two of the receptionists mentioned that they had work themselves or had friends that went to a Doctor Chawla, unfortunately i had been barred from the surgery he was based at by a different Dentist thirty years before, so i was reluctant to go in there. I visited a few other surgeries and was not confident in what they were offering, so I called Dr Chawla, gave my name, and they booked me in. As soon as I sat in the chair, I felt comfortable, the Dr explained what he needed to find in order to do implants, and what the other options were. He found quite a lot of work was needed, and I was already aware of most of it. I asked him to do the lot, and he got started. By the third visit, he knew who I was, and a bit about me, and me him, it was like visiting a friend for half an hour, once a week. Sometimes appointments went on longer than planned, but this was never an issue with Dr Chawla or his assistants, and sometimes if I could not make surgery hours, out-of-hours appointments were arranged. The treatment is now finished, and I am very happy with all aspects of what was done and the cost. All of the work was explained to me clearly as we went along, and why it was being done, what the outcome would be and what could go wrong. I visited two of Dr Chawla’s surgeries, both clean and attractive, with professional, polite staff. The look for my front teeth chosen between Dr chawla and myself was based on my natural teeth but subtly changed for a better overall appearance, I did not want a fake look, but people started telling me I looked healthy, i’ve had people actually tell me that I have nice teeth, and noticed that i now smiled, something that i consciously did not do, also when i spoke i hardly moved my lips so that my teeth would not show, I am now trying to show my teeth when I speak. " I first met Dr Mohan Chawla in 2006 . Over the years, along with routine dental work, he has fitted me with beautiful veneers, crowns and most recently a tooth implant. " I was first introduced to Dr Mohan Chawla in 2006 through a referral. During the 1990s, I’d had a pretty horrifying experience with my then-dentist, which ultimately left me terrified by the thought of ever returning. From that point ... on, I only ever visited the dentist in emergency situations – which usually resulted in an extraction. In 2006, I visited a dentist with an extremely painful wisdom tooth, which was also removed. It was during this visit that I said how unhappy I was with my teeth, but how my phobia of dentists had prevented me from taking more preventative action. It was then that I was referred to Mohan. Soon after, I had a full consultation with him, and what really impressed me was his ability to make me feel completely at ease. I knew that I required further extractions, and my overwhelming concern was not to have to wear dentures. Mohan spent a great deal of time with me, explaining the options available and before any corrective work was commenced and discussed a full treatment plan with me. He explained in plain and simple terms what treatments were necessary and why, and how his priority in the first instance was to stabilise my oral condition. I’ve had a full range of treatments, including root canals, crowns, fillings, and dental implants over the course of two years. On my first appointment, I was extremely nervous, but Mohan soon put all those fears aside. I didn’t rush my treatment, but planned it to suit my work and holidays, so the process took around two years from start to finish. However, the results are truly amazing – not only aesthetically, but psychologically too. I’ve gone from someone who hid their smile to someone who is always showing off my teeth, and I receive so many compliments about them. " I originally considered cosmetic work on my teeth after watching makeover programs where dental work not only made the biggest difference to appearance but also to confidence. I consulted with several dentists and reviewed all the options which were suggested ... including extractions, braces, veneers and whitening. I felt at my age, then 51, I didn’t want several years of treatment. Had I still been in my thirties I would have considered something more radical. Mohan impressed me from the start and seemed to understand what I wanted to achieve. I had never had a fear of dentists but I had only previously had fillings. I struggled a bit with the initial consultations but Mohan was patient and encouraging and taught me tips to control the gag reflex. Over the months, I grew to trust him and didn’t really want to know what the next step entailed; I just made the appointments and turned up. Partway through the treatment, he suggested the gum contouring, and I wasn’t sure whether to go for it, but decided I would. It was an unpleasant experience, but short-lived and definitely worthwhile. Some of the consultations lasted for more than an hour, and by the end of the course of treatment, I was amazed at how much I was able to relax in the chair. Subsequently, I know if I could endure all that treatment, then I will be able to cope with any dental procedure in future. Just after I finished my treatment in June 2011, I attended a friend’s wedding and I was amazed how many of my friends complimented me on my teeth. The following day I attended my son’s graduation and in all the photos there is a proud mum flashing her dazzling new smile! Around that time, we also went on holiday, and it is quite noticeable in the photos how happy and relaxed I look, smiling and laughing again. A good relationship with your dentist is vital; you have to be able to trust their advice, professional judgement and expertise. Mohan and his team run a very professional practice; they are courteous, punctual and caring. I really feel the work I had done, and the cost hit the mark for me; I don’t regret not having more radical treatments. I have sometimes felt financially exploited by other dentists’ selling overpriced and unnecessary accessories or offering very little treatment for exorbitant fees, but they are the experts, so how do I know what is acceptable? " I have been very keen on looking after my teeth since I was a child, as my father encouraged me. I was very scared when my boyfriend woke up to find that the wrong tooth had been extracted; I ... also had a bad experience. He takes the trouble to have trainee dentists observe and learn from him, which impresses me too. When I started, he noticed that a filling I had recently had was not doing the job and replaced it. This surprised me as I had always been impressed by my previous dentist. This demonstrated that he is extremely thorough and wants everything perfect. He wears special magnifying glasses with a light, which also gives me confidence. He recently told me he may need to fit an implant, which would have scared me, as I have heard terrible stories. He had told me previously that he had a lot of training and wanted to specialise in implants, thus I am not scared. The older you get, the more stories you hear from people with complicated dental problems and how the dentists have made them worse. I feel so lucky that I can trust Dr Chawla 100%.
